A study done by Valerie Kuhlmeier and Kiley Hamlin who was building off of previous studies done by David and Ann Premack suggests that 6 month old babies have a level of morality. In the study they had 6 to 10 month old babies watch a video of these shapes with faces on them help and hinder each other. In the video there is a ball trying to get up a hill first there is a square that comes and pushes the ball from behind to help him get up the hill. In the second part of the video they show a triangle get in front of the ball and stop him from being able to make it up the hill. After the babies have watched the video the shapes are brought out to them to see which one they will grab first. Just about every baby reached for the "good guy" first. To make sure this wasn't just a preference of a certain shape they mixed it up and had the shapes switch roles and the findings were the same. This study is showing that there is some kind of recognition by the babies that helping is better than hindering, and that as early as 6 months old the baby is making some kind of moral decision.

Psychologists have believed for a long time that babies have no bearing of what is morally right, and that it is the job of the parents and society to make them civilized. There are some more recent studies that suggest that babies are more aware of what is right and wrong than what was previously thought.
