Piaget
Piaget's Mission![]() Jean Piaget was born on August 9, 1896 in Switzerland. Throughout his career, Piaget identified four stages of mental development, called “schema.” He is most known for his contributions to child psychology. Piaget placed great importance on the education of children. He served as the director of the International Board of Education, while serving, he declared in 1934 that "only education is capable of saving our societies from possible collapse, whether violent, or gradual." Psychologist Jean Piaget identified stages of mental development and established the fields of cognitive theory and developmental psychology. He studied children for over 50 years, and many of his principles and ideas are used actively in psychological studies today. Over this period, Piaget developed what he called the three stages of development in which he was determined to discover what shifts characterize moral development.
